Gratitude is a mind changer. . . Acceptance is the pathway.

I am feeling so very grateful presently because a very dear friend got a good report from her doctor this morning.  We all love her so much and have been walking through this illness with her, as much as we can, but you can never quite prepare yourself for the news, particularly if it isn't good.  We are all breathing a big sigh of relief, as is she and her family, of course.  But the real lesson here is being able to accept what ever the news might have been.  That's not so easy. Reflections in the Mirror - You and Yourself

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. . .

The title of this blog is a quote by Aristotle, likely written about 350 BC.  It's an amazingly meaningful quote, I think, and if lived by, would be world changing.  I was on the phone this morning with a group of business folks discussing the application of this thought in our work lives and for certain, it could play a big role there.  It would allow brain-storming to go to a whole new level.  And conflict resolution would be greatly advanced too.  But I think our personal lives would vastly improve also if we allowed for the differing opinions of others. Relationships: our invitation to grow. . .

I am thinking about relationships this morning in preparation for a talk I am giving tomorrow evening.  It's good to be reminded of the easily accessible tools that can make our relationships more productive, more peaceful and more enjoyable, moment by moment.  In fact, I have come to believe that our greatest lesson in this life is learning how to live peacefully with our fellow-travelers.  Those who show up on our path didn't make their appearance "accidentally."  We have work to do together or we wouldn't be encountering each other.
