Where should civility fit in my outreach to you. . .

I have been thinking a lot lately about the growing incivility of so many in positions of power, whether they are politicians or talk show hosts.  I don't intend for this blog to be "political" in tone, but I am concerned about how influential some voices are, particularly voices that might lead to violence. Thinking about Labor Day…

I was thinking about what Labor Day used to mean to me this morning as I sat by the lake. I taught elementary school in the early 60's for 8 years and Labor Day meant the end of my glorious time off.  I always went back to the classroom somewhat reluctantly, that is until the first week was under my belt.  And then it all felt comfortable again. Each Day Is A New Beginning. . .

After being at a meeting this morning, I was thinking about the joy of this journey we share.  Every one in my group was some one who has become very close to my heart.  But I also thought about all those who haven't wandered into the recovery rooms yet and want to remember them too.  We must hold in our hearts all people.  Every person alive, in fact.  Those we consider enemies as well as friends we simply have not met yet.
