W.A.I.T.

W.A.I.T. is an acronym for why am I talking?  A young woman shared this idea at one of my AA meetings a few years ago.  I had never heard it before but have used it, remembered it, forgotten it, and denied it to myself hundreds of times since then.  It’s a brilliant shortcut to staying out of the thick of someone else’s business.  It is all so easy to stick my nose in where it isn’t needed.  Backseat driving it is and this can happen as easily in my living room as in the car.  Choosing silence is a remarkably simple choice but not one that’s easily made.  By me. Unfortunately.

Choosing to practice W.A.I.T. even once a day would make a difference in the vibrations of one’s life.  If every one of us chose silence rather than criticism even one time in every 24 hours the universe would begin to shift.  Do you doubt this?  Well don’t.  I speak the truth.  You have heard me talk about the Butterfly Effect in the past.  It means that every action, or even every thought, registers far and wide, in time.  Nothing is inviolate.  Nothing.  And that’s good.  It promises that when we,  when each one of us makes the decision to add benefit to the world around us we will truly be fulfilling the spiritual role that’s been selected for us.

Perhaps you aren’t comfortable accepting the responsibility for adding to the Butterfly Effect.  It’s not a bad thing to want to deny responsibility.  However, you have no choice in the matter.  What you think and do is being registered and felt somewhere each moment and you can’t prevent that from happening so you might as well go ahead and make sure that what you are sending forth will make you proud.

We can all easily recognize those actions, those ideas that are harming the world around us.  All we have to do is turn on cable television and we will be inundated with the negativity that is infecting the universe.  Personally I think that’s why those of us who want to bring positive benefit to the universe need to get busy and send forth ideas and actions that run counter to what so freely is tossed forth by the naysayers.  It’s a good feeling, actually, to know that each one of us can make a positive difference in the life we are leading.  And we can make a difference in the experience everyone else has too.  Practice W.A.I.T. once in a while and you will be on the right track.
