{"id":76,"date":"2009-09-13T10:17:40","date_gmt":"2009-09-13T15:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karencasey.wordpress.com\/?p=76"},"modified":"2009-09-13T10:17:40","modified_gmt":"2009-09-13T15:17:40","slug":"hopelessness-need-not-be-a-condition-without-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=76","title":{"rendered":"Hopelessness need not be a condition without end. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\">There are innumerable personal situations that can cause creeping hopelessness.\u00a0 You have been diagnosed with a terminal illness with only months to live or a parent dies unexpectedly.\u00a0 Maybe your troubled teenager is on the run again and you feel you have no where to turn. The job you have loved for years suddenly gets cut with no forewarning.\u00a0 Or the boss who always understood your personal struggles and insecurities and willingly worked with you, gets transferred.\u00a0 Or the situation that every one dreads, your relationship partner informs you that he wants to leave the commitment you had believed was life-long. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\">It\u2019s easy in any of these cases to fall into despair.\u00a0 And when some one says, \u201cThis too shall pass,\u201d we want to scream.\u00a0<em> But we never need to feel hopeless.\u00a0 Our Higher Power is always present.<\/em> We want the situation that has caused our pain to change, however.\u00a0 Now.\u00a0 We want the diagnosis to be incorrect.\u00a0 We want the parent to remain alive, indefinitely.\u00a0 We want our child to be safe and asleep in her bedroom.\u00a0 We want the job to not only be secure but we want the promotion we had dreamed about.\u00a0 And we want the \u201clove of our life\u201d to say he or she is in this relationship for the long haul, through think <strong>and<\/strong> thin.\u00a0 That\u2019s what seems fair, after all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\">But life has a different way of showing up, doesn\u2019t it? \u00a0 In fact, life shows up as it should.\u00a0 \u00a0 Our lessons are many and intentional.\u00a0 They have not come to us accidentally.\u00a0 We have been part of the selection process whether we know that or not.\u00a0 That\u2019s why <em>we never need to feel hopeless.\u00a0 Our Higher Power is and always has been present. <\/em> Cherishing that as our reality can change the way we see every situation in our life.\u00a0 The difficult ones are designed to stretch us, to help us reach out to others for support, understanding and wisdom, and to God.\u00a0 The joyful ones are meant to be shared so that our traveling companions can appreciate that life does give all of us moments free from turmoil. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\">The more we trust that our Higher Power will always do for us what we can\u2019t do for ourselves; the more we realize that the myriad experiences that are calling to us are our \u201cdancing lessons\u201d being paid for by God; the less anxiety we will feel that we haven\u2019t been prepared for whatever might be next on our agenda.\u00a0 Rest assured.\u00a0 We have been prepared.\u00a0 Nothing happens that hasn\u2019t been divinely ordered.\u00a0 Our lives are never hopeless. We are in the right place, at the right time.\u00a0 Walking with the people who are necessary to our journey.\u00a0 <em>And our Higher Power is and always has been present.<\/em> Even when we were certain we had been forgotten, that was not the truth. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;min-height:14px;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0;\"> Throughout this week I will use as my morning and evening meditation the phrase: <strong><em>I need never feel hopeless.\u00a0 My Higher Power is and always has been present.<\/em><\/strong> The cracks in the pavement will become smooth when I rely on this power for all my answers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;min-height:14px;margin:0 0 12px;\"><span style=\"letter-spacing:0 text-shadow;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are innumerable personal situations that can cause creeping hopelessness.\u00a0 You have been diagnosed with a terminal illness with only months to live or a parent dies unexpectedly.\u00a0 Maybe your troubled teenager is on the run again and you feel you have no where to turn.
