{"id":383,"date":"2010-05-04T21:20:54","date_gmt":"2010-05-05T02:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karencasey.wordpress.com\/?p=383"},"modified":"2010-05-04T21:20:54","modified_gmt":"2010-05-05T02:20:54","slug":"who-are-you-listening-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=383","title":{"rendered":"Who are you listening to ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am aware many times every day that I am listening to the louder voice in my mind.\u00a0 That it speaks first, and quite forcefully, is only part of its appeal.\u00a0 It\u2019s familiarity and the way in which it convinces me that <strong>I AM RIGHT<\/strong>, in far too many encounters with others, seduces me again and again.\u00a0 It mesmerizes me, in fact.\u00a0 But I am making progress!\u00a0 My ego isn\u2019t the whole of me.\u00a0 I am certain of this.\u00a0 But it claims my full attention when it can.\u00a0 Fortunately,\u00a0 I have learned to take an occasional deep breath, to pause before speaking,\u00a0 and to seek a shift in perspective.\u00a0 Then I try to listen for the other <em>also present voice<\/em> in my mind before making my response when ever an opportunity to disagree presents itself.\u00a0 I have finally learned that I don\u2019t have to join every argument I am invited to.\u00a0 I am not a beginner on this path.\u00a0 I have been a student searching for a more peaceful path for more than three decades, but the seduction of the ego remains strong and my resistance to it takes constant vigilance.<\/p>\n<p>I am glad I am not striving for perfection.\u00a0 I am striving for greater peace of mind, however.\u00a0 And being a committed student of a course in miracles, coupled with the Twelve Steps, has allowed me to gather a few moments of peace every day for many, many \u00a0years.\u00a0 And I think that any time any one of us <strong><em>lives in and responds from<\/em><\/strong> a place of peace, we are helping to create a more peaceful world for all of humanity, an endeavor worthy of every one of us, I think. \u00a0At the very least, I know that when my response to any situation comes from a peaceful place, I feel that God is pleased and that, in turn, pleases me.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif;font-size:small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am aware many times every day that I am listening to the louder voice in my mind.\u00a0 That it speaks first, and quite forcefully, is only part of its appeal.\u00a0 It\u2019s familiarity and the way in which it convinces me that I AM RIGHT, in far too many encounters with others, seduces me again [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[12],"tags":[28,55,97,182],"class_list":["post-383","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-what-i-believe-you-and-your-higher-power","tag-arguments","tag-daily-practice","tag-gods-presence","tag-resisting-them"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Who are you listening to ?
