The title of this post can mean many things, I suppose. \u00a0In actuality, I do think that whatever tugs at your mind, regardless of who you are and where you are in your life, is the next thing that should get your attention. \u00a0This is true if you are sitting at your desk at work or reading an email from a friend who is seeking your counsel. \u00a0I have come to believe, emphatically, since embarking on this spiritual journey, that the “God” of my understanding is always in charge of whatever is trying to get my sincere attention.<\/p>\n
We all have people we need to meet, and work we have been born to do so that we don’t really have a lot of time to waste. \u00a0And there are simply no superfluous people on our paths. \u00a0Honest! \u00a0Whoever you are meeting or hearing from are divinely present<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Some of you may not believe that. \u00a0Neither did I when a sponsor told me that in early recovery. \u00a0And then I began to “review” all the people who had been part of my journey. \u00a0I made a list of all the things I had been introduced to because of those “chance encounters.” \u00a0And then I took careful note of what all I had learned as a result of all the experiences I had had. \u00a0Everyone of them had added to whom I had become. \u00a0I could see, with willingness, that not one of the people or experiences were irrelevant. \u00a0Not one!<\/p>\n In case you are feeling a bit suspect about what I am proposing, perhaps you will want to make an inventory like I did. \u00a0What experience have you had that taught you nothing? \u00a0And who have you met that offered you nothing? \u00a0Remember, not everything we receive from others feels good in the moment. \u00a0Sometimes our lessons seem harsh initially. \u00a0But they moved us forward. \u00a0Everyone of them. \u00a0I used to think the divorce from my first husband was the worst thing that could ever have happened. \u00a0And guess what? \u00a0His leaving ultimately led me into the rooms of AA and the rest of my journey as a writer followed. \u00a0Was that pain irrelevant? \u00a0I think not.<\/p>\n What has most recently “knocked” on your door, seeking attention or counsel? \u00a0Did you welcome it? \u00a0Or were you resistant because you were tired or out of sorts? \u00a0Sometimes I can feel myself not wanting to be there for someone. \u00a0But when I reach down inside and pull up the willingness, I walk away a bit more healed. \u00a0Always. \u00a0Does that sound familiar to you?<\/p>\n Let me close by saying that whomever comes calling is there to heal you. \u00a0And you are there to offer healing too. \u00a0That’s a promise you can take to the bank. \u00a0May you be at peace as you greet whomever is coming your way.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The title of this post can mean many things, I suppose. \u00a0In actuality, I do think that whatever tugs at your mind, regardless of who you are and where you are in your life, is the next thing that should get your attention. \u00a0This is true if you are sitting at your desk at work […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[4,8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3543","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-circle-of-family-and-friends-you-and-your-personal-community","category-karens-musings"],"yoast_head":"\n
