{"id":3521,"date":"2015-07-22T15:07:29","date_gmt":"2015-07-22T20:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=3521"},"modified":"2015-07-22T15:07:29","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T20:07:29","slug":"a-puppy-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=3521","title":{"rendered":"A puppy update . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nellie, our puppy, is getting both cuter and into more stuff as the days go by. \u00a0I sure wish I had had children. \u00a0I feel in the dark about so much of this training. \u00a0Everyone keeps saying it&#8217;s like having a baby. \u00a0Well, never having had a child is a drawback, I can assure you. \u00a0But she and I are figuring it out. \u00a0One <strong>No!<\/strong> at a time. \u00a0One treat at a time.<\/p>\n<p>Raising a puppy is kind of like getting sober, I have decided. \u00a0You live in a place of doubt quite often. \u00a0You think you are grasping the first step, and the next thing you know, you are trying to control the uncontrollable. \u00a0In this case, Nellie. \u00a0She is like my will when it is running roughshod over my &#8220;higher self.&#8221; I feel as out of control as Nellie is on occasion. \u00a0Then I know it&#8217;s time to take a deep breath and pause. \u00a0What I need to do next will become apparent.<\/p>\n<p>One of the positives of having this puppy is that Joe and I are talking more about our lives. \u00a0I don&#8217;t mean to imply we had poor communication before. \u00a0We have always talked a lot. \u00a0But it seems our communication now is more focused, more practical, even on a more spiritual plane. \u00a0We have concluded that having a puppy late in life is a spiritual endeavor, one that is nurturing our spiritual journey. \u00a0This is a plus that we had not counted on.<\/p>\n<p>My belief that there are no accidents in life and that God is part of every circumstance, implies that God is very much a part of this addition to our lives too. \u00a0This is an extremely interesting awareness, to both of us. \u00a0Wherever you go, there you are and God is there too! \u00a0I do wish God were supplying me with a better instruction book, however.<\/p>\n<p>The ever-so-wise program slogans are coming into greater, and more practical use daily. \u00a0Having Nellie &#8220;a day at a time,&#8221; is a helpful concept. \u00a0&#8220;This too shall pass&#8221; is extremely helpful every time she &#8220;pees&#8221; in the house rather than outside, <strong>WHERE SHE JUST WAS!<\/strong>. &#8221; Let Go and Let God&#8221; is a constant reminder that it&#8217;s not our only job in life to control her every move while she is in the puppy stage. \u00a0In fact, it&#8217;s not possible. \u00a0She is three months old. \u00a0We are 76. \u00a0Need I say more? \u00a0haha<\/p>\n<p>The one thing I know for sure: God does have a sense of humor. \u00a0And keeping ours while Nellie is a puppy is mandatory. \u00a0At least for the next year. \u00a0I&#8217;ll keep you posted. \u00a0If you have any suggestions, I&#8217;m all ears.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nellie, our puppy, is getting both cuter and into more stuff as the days go by. \u00a0I sure wish I had had children. \u00a0I feel in the dark about so much of this training. \u00a0Everyone keeps saying it&#8217;s like having a baby. \u00a0Well, never having had a child is a drawback, I can assure you.
