{"id":3217,"date":"2014-01-23T14:44:21","date_gmt":"2014-01-23T20:44:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=3217"},"modified":"2014-01-23T14:44:21","modified_gmt":"2014-01-23T20:44:21","slug":"january-is-slipping-into-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=3217","title":{"rendered":"January is slipping into February. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some days I simply want to say to the world around me: <strong>SLOW DOWN, DOGGONE IT.<\/strong> \u00a0Perhaps my resistance to the passage of time is that I too often have my mind somewhere else, rather than on the moment that&#8217;s being given to me. \u00a0Each moment is a gift. \u00a0The decision to open each gift slowly, grasping all that it is offering, is available to me. \u00a0Always. And no one can make the decision for me. \u00a0No one.<\/p>\n<p>I have slipped away from the security of <strong>NOW<\/strong>\u00a0these last few weeks. \u00a0I think my consternation about my future, and how I want it to look, has taken me &#8220;off-course.&#8221; \u00a0Do I want to keep working as much as I currently work, or do I want to live a bit more retired? \u00a0Will I feel as though I lack purpose and worth if I step away from the workshop circuit? \u00a0I&#8217;m somewhat ashamed to admit that worthiness remains an issue for me. \u00a0I&#8217;m not troubled by it often, but I do know it nips at my heels on occasion. \u00a0Even though I have nearly four decades in 12 step rooms.<\/p>\n<p>Are we worthy enough is a question many of us confront, I think. \u00a0At least many in my circle of contacts and supporters. \u00a0How much is enough of any thing, after all? \u00a0Enough money, enough toys, enough friends; enough peace and serenity? \u00a0Actually, I think only the peace and serenity need to be of concern when we reach the latter stage of living, the stage I am in now. \u00a0And I know I have <strong>earned<\/strong> the right to enjoy nothing but peace and serenity. \u00a0And the truth is, none of us need to earn it any way. \u00a0Both are ours for the asking. \u00a0Quieting one&#8217;s mind in the blink of an eye changes the moment, slowing it down, allowing for reflection.<\/p>\n<p>I began the year taking the long view of how I might spend it. \u00a0A bit of work, a bit of writing and a bit more playing. \u00a0The playing hasn&#8217;t gotten off the mark yet. \u00a0I&#8217;m not sure I know &#8220;how to play.&#8221; \u00a0But that&#8217;s my intention; that&#8217;s my goal for the rest of this year. \u00a0Define for me what play looks like and then nuzzle into it. \u00a0A moment at a time. \u00a0An experience at a time \u00a0A day at a time.<\/p>\n<p>I intend to begin today. \u00a0Will you consider joining me on this journey of
