Interdependence is the hallmark of a healthy relationship.<\/p>\n
Getting enmeshed in someone else\u2019s life generally happens when we are feeling in-<\/p>\n
secure, and uncertain of ourselves.\u00a0 We cling to the \u201cobject of our affection,\u201d and then<\/p>\n
mistakenly think that if we are constantly \u201cin sync,\u201d if we are in agreement on every topic<\/p>\n
of discussion, opinion, value and goal; we are meant for each other.\u00a0 The converse is<\/p>\n
the truth, of course.\u00a0 This kind of dependence is never love.\u00a0 This kind of dependence is<\/p>\n
never a sign of healthy alliance.\u00a0 In fact, this kind of dependence screams unholy at-<\/p>\n
tachment to all onlookers.<\/p>\n
Wanting healthy relationships takes a commitment to self exploration and respect for<\/p>\n
our partner too.\u00a0 Knowing who we are and what we really want for ourselves is manda-<\/p>\n
tory.\u00a0 Only then can we be a good partner and stay whole.\u00a0 Only then can we fulfill the<\/p>\n
purpose for which we are here.<\/p>\n
Our fellow travelers are present by design.\u00a0 They are not ours to control, to make<\/p>\n
hostages of, to stifle in any way.\u00a0 Freedom is the right of all of us.<\/p>\n
