{"id":1534,"date":"2011-01-17T14:49:26","date_gmt":"2011-01-17T20:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=1534"},"modified":"2011-01-17T14:49:26","modified_gmt":"2011-01-17T20:49:26","slug":"home-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=1534","title":{"rendered":"Home again. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been away for the last week doing a workshop and speaking at an AA\/ Al-Anon Jamboree in South Padre Island, TX. \u00a0 I love the opportunities my work affords me to meet people from all over the world. \u00a0Doing workshops, based on books I have written, gives me such pleasure. \u00a0I feel that I have <em><strong>&#8220;been selected&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> to do the work I do. \u00a0And I&#8217;m quite sure the angels hover around me whether I am at the computer writing a post like this one, a book like the memoir I am currently writing for Hazelden, or standing before an audience in this country or abroad, sharing my experience, strength, and hope.<\/p>\n<p>Your comments, to what I have shared, continue to amaze me. \u00a0I mentioned this in a post last week but I feel compelled to \u00a0mention it again. \u00a0The time you devote to finding the site, reading the post, and then commenting on it gratifies me more than you can imagine. \u00a0 Every writer&#8217;s first dream is that others are being reached by her words. \u00a0The second dream is that a reader, any reader, will let the writer know that her words have not been ignored. Thousands of you have let me know you &#8220;heard.&#8221; \u00a0I love you for that.<\/p>\n<p>Now back to the week end. \u00a0The hospitality in Texas was fabulous. \u00a0Every one \u00a0had a hug and a good word to say about my workshop, my talk or some of my books. \u00a0And they were just plain nice, besides. \u00a0My previous experience in Texas was very limited. \u00a0I got a speeding ticket! \u00a0Many years ago. \u00a0Back before my life had begun to change. \u00a0I had been warned about the state being one big speed trap but alcoholics never figure they will fall in to one of them. \u00a0At least not this alcoholic. \u00a0Not a young woman driving a red MGB.<\/p>\n<p>What a relief to visit Texas this time. \u00a0There was no way I was going to be caught speeding. \u00a0No way I was going to be caught drinking. \u00a0No way I was going to be caught behaving in any way other than the right way, the way a sober woman behaves. \u00a0Thank God for the changes this life affords us. \u00a0Thank God.<\/p>\n<p>Have you considered all that you have to be grateful for lately? \u00a0I&#8217;m sure there are any number of things. \u00a0There always
