{"id":102,"date":"2009-09-26T14:44:58","date_gmt":"2009-09-26T19:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karencasey.wordpress.com\/?p=102"},"modified":"2009-09-26T14:44:58","modified_gmt":"2009-09-26T19:44:58","slug":"detachment-is-giving-up-outcomes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.womens-spirituality.com\/?p=102","title":{"rendered":"Detachment is giving up outcomes. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">Perhaps you have heard this wise phrase: <strong>&#8220;our job is the effort, not the outcome.&#8221;<\/strong> How often do we embrace it fully? Generally, we want to \u201csecure\u201d the result that we have imagined is the perfect one. And to do this, we assume we have to shepherd the project or the situation, or the person, down the path that leads to <strong>our definition<\/strong> of the \u201cnatural conclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">But the correct conclusion, God\u2019s will, might not even resemble our will. That\u2019s not an easy adjustment to make in our thinking. \u00a0Hindsight is so revealing. For just a moment, recall a situation in your past that you were determined to control, but the outcome was simply not what you had envisioned. Can you see how much better God\u2019s outcome was?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\">In my life, had I managed to <em>make\u00a0happen\u00a0<span style=\"font-style:normal;\">many of my \u201ceducated\u201d choices, I\u2019d not be alive to write this blog. Thank goodness God had a far better outcome for me than my own plan. Now I know, even though I am still inclined to forget, that doing \u201cmy part,\u201d and then letting go of the rest, will insure, at the very least, my peace of mind. I like that feeling.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\"><em><span style=\"font-style:normal;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font:12px Helvetica;margin:0;\"><strong><em>Detaching from outcomes, those that apply to us and those that apply to the actions of others, is the surest way to a peaceful day.
