We are where we need to be. Always. . .

The first time I heard this I scoffed.  How could I possibly need to be in "this" meeting, with these people?  Or in this job?  Or married to this person?  Or in this amount of pain?  What I didn't understand was that the lessons I needed to learn were wrapped in the experiences I was having in every setting that claimed my presence.  My lessons have been many.  This is true for all of us.  This will continue to be true, in fact. I was talking to some friends in a phone meeting we have daily  about happiness and what resonates with me when I think of ha[...]

Another You Tube has posted. . .

I did another You Tube recently.  And like the last time, I  waited with trepidation to see if I could get it uploaded properly.  After a few attempts, I did.  I'd love it if you tuned in.  Google You tube: Another Visit With Author Karen Casey.  It should pop right up.  It's not perfect and I do plan more of them.  They will get better.  I promise.  But I am loving the experience and I am not hung up on the fact that they aren't perfect. It has been suggested to me that perhaps they should be more professionally done.  However, I am who I am.  A work[...]

Detachment is giving up outcomes. . .

Perhaps you have heard this wise phrase: "our job is the effort, not the outcome." How often do we embrace it fully? Generally, we want to “secure” the result that we have imagined is the perfect one. And to do this, we assume we have to shepherd the project or the situation, or the person, down the path that leads to our definition of the “natural conclusion.” But the correct conclusion, God’s will, might not even resemble our will. That’s not an easy adjustment to make in our thinking.  Hindsight is so revealing. For just a moment, recall a situat[...]

Change of any kind requires commitment coupled with practice. . .

Are you currently trying to make any kind of change in your life?  Perhaps you are trying to commit to an exercise program or take time for daily prayer and meditation.  Maybe making a life style choice about eating healthier foods is at the top of your list of desired changes.  I have made a lot of changes over the years.  I quit drinking nearly 34 years ago.  I followed that with giving up cigarettes just a few months later.  Making a daily practice of prayer and meditation was harder.  I could get the prayer part down.  I learned from reading The Magica[...]

Mary in the Morning. . . with Heather Daniels

Just wanted to alert you all who are reading this that I will be on the above named show that will stream on the web www.1067youfm.com from 6:30 to 7 AM Eastern time on the 15th.  If you are up that early, tune in.  The show is out of Traverse, MI.  we are going to talk about my new book: Cultivating Hope.  I am so pleased with the attention that book is getting. Hope is in short supply these days for many people.  Those of us who have some need to consider holding it out for those who don't.  In that way, we can all feel comforted.  We must give away that[...]

Well, with help, I did it. . .

My first You Tube is now available on Google, thanks to a very good friend.  We always second guess ourselves, don't we.  My first reaction was surprise; my next reaction was: My hair looks awful!  And then I had to strain to hear it.  Obviously the volume was turned down on my computer, and I didn't  realize it.  All things to be improved upon in the next attempt. As we have all been told so many times, practice results in progress and I intend to make progress.  Just doing it feels  like a major achievement, however.  Adding this to the many new things[...]
